Safety.

Safety.

To combine motorsport and safety is one of the primary aims of MINI Challenge. Thus the safety standards of the MINI John Cooper Works Challenge are correspondingly high. The race car’s body shell is fitted with a welded roll cage to form a unitary construction. In addition, the car is fitted with a RECARO sports seat combined with a six-point safety belt, and the HANS (Head And Neck Support) system as specified in Formula One in order to provide neck protection. A further safety factor, one unique in this club motorsport category, is that the anti-lock braking system (ABS) remains fully functional under all racing conditions. The racing car is equipped with a safety cage, which is welded to the body of the car and goes way beyond the FIA requirements. The cage provides a defined crumple zone and ensures that the passenger cell also withstands extreme strain without incurring putting its occupants at risk.
